Another day at THE OFFICE
Tomorrow night NBC is rerunning the Christmas episode of THE OFFICE from two weeks ago, in which the world’s most uncomfortable in-office holiday party ensues. It’s frank, unsentimental and oddly accurate, not to mention incredibly hilarious.
If you haven’t watched this show, this is a great entry point. If you haven’t watched this show yet because you’re a fan of the British version and therefore automatically primed to dislike this version, you’re misinformed and denying yourself one of life’s greatest pleasures. And now that ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT is all but gone, I’m calling it: the single best show on TV.

I think, especially at the beginning, The Office tried to be too much like the British one, but season two is outstanding. I am now sincerely cringing when Michael says or does anything - awesome. He just wants to be loved.

The very first episode of season one was a virtual remake of the UK version, but I think they distinguished themselves with “Diversity Day,” which was either the second or third episode, and more biting than anything I’ve seen on network TV in a long time.

The Christmas Party episode was one of the highlights of the season for me, though I did enjoy the crap out of the ep centering around Jim’s party and trying to keep the info from Michael because, well, I’ve been there. And it ain’t easy to try and pull off.

I watched the first episode of season 1 and wasn’t surprised it wasn’t nearly as good as the BBC one, so I was blown away when a friend told me that season 2 was mindblowing. Now I’m hooked, but that Christmas episode has its own cult following. Everywhere I go I hear people talking about it.

Poor Phyllis. She made that oven mitt herself.

I can’t decide which I liked more- Creed giving Jim an old shirt wrapped in a plastic bag and his nonchalant attitude towards it or Kevin buying himself a foot bath.
But who was Dwight’s gift of paintball lessons intended for? I’m assuming it doesn’t matter, but not knowing bugs me.
