I like my Coke black … like my men
Forgive the admittedly tasteless reference to one of the funniest lines in one of the funniest movies of all time, but Coca-Cola recently introduced its Black Cherry Vanilla flavor, in both regular and diet form. I tried it this past weekend, and while I didn’t dislike it, I don’t see myself buying another box of it when this one’s through. Not with diet Cherry Coke – to which I was recently introduced – still pleasuring my taste buds.
I wasn’t aware that the new Black Cherry Vanilla flavor is replacing the plain Vanilla flavors, so if you like that, you’d best drop everything right now and scour the shelves of your local grocery store, because it’s going the way of Pepsi Holiday Spice. I immediately loved Vanilla Coke from the very start, but it gave me the worst headaches, so we mutually agreed to part ways and see other people.

This is terrible. I liked Vanilla Coke and I’m sure I get the logic of replacing it with this Black Cherry Vanilla Coke. You have to figure that anyone who didn’t like Vanilla Coke won’t touch the new flavor and a certain percentage of the people who like it also won’t like the new variation. So why replace one flavor with a flavor that’s certain to sell less?

Well, I liked Diet Vanilla Coke okay, but it was a little much for me. I like Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper, so I’m thinking the Black Cherry might cut some of the sweetness of the Diet Vanilla Coke and make it a smoother ride. Haven’t tried it yet, though.

Don’t know about smooth, but the taste of BCVC pales in comparison to regular/diet VC.

I am suspicious of anything Black Cherry flavored, and the Vanilla flavors are good - Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper in particular. Was there really ever a Pepsi Holiday Spice?

Was there ever a Pepsi Holiday Spice? Oh, lordy, yes!
It came out in the fall of 2004, in an old-timey-looking can. Basically, it was Pepsi with added cinnamon and ginger flavors. And it was awesome.
Half of my looking forward to the Christmas 2005 season was the return of Holiday Spice. But I guess it bombed, because Pepsi did not bring it back, and my life is worse because of it.

I hate hate hate vanilla soft drinks. They always give me a cotton-mouth and I’m constantly burping a chalky aftertaste, but I’ll be damned if Diet Black Cherry Vanilla isn’t the best soda I’ve had the pelasure to drink in a long time. Black Cherry–way better than regular ol’ cherry–really works to take the usually overpowering vanilla down to a level of “just barely noticble”.
I recommend it.

Hi. I despise all forms of vanills coke, but i think you should be able to buy it if you want it . The thing i hate is that they intentionally made the labels so they (under superficial scrutiny) look like regular coke. Tonight i just wanted a regular coke, i went into a convenience store took one from the rack in their cooler and paid for it. Half way home i open it and the taste made me want to spit. It was a black cherry coke! !@#$!! The miniscule text on the label that says “black cherry coke” is totally obscured when its in one of those tilted sliding dispencer things. How many people accidentally buy these new flavours? Why can’t they put “Black Cherry Vanilla” on the TOP half of the label in normal size letters? For that matter why can’t coke just create a new flavour and give it a new name without it riding on the coattails of regular coke. Its like buying tickets to a groups concert then finding out that the only original member left in the band is the drummer. Black Cherry Vanilla is not Coke! Come on Coke stop being lazy come up with a new non-coke name and new marketing , maybe then one of their newer flavours will actually survive! Blaze a new trail why don’t you! Crap i’m old enough to remember “new” Coke, i liked that but it wasn’t really coke either. Why do they have to try to do part 2’s and sequels. Just make something new with a new name!

Zoiks! Colling Farrell is one of the new spokespersons for the special olympics? That’s kinda strange. He’s getting over an addiction to pain killers and has a sex tape out. That’s pretty special if you ask me!
