10-Movie DVD Sets Shrine and Info Center
It’s no secret we love DVD. It
rocks. But not so well-known is our deep love of Brentwood
Communications’ 10-movie DVD box sets. You’ll
likely find them in the budget section of your local video
retailer. For the price of what you pay for a single
major-studio release like, say, America’s
Sweethearts, you get 10 – count ‘em, 10! –
movies on five double-sided discs in one nice, compact set.
Don’t get us wrong: Not all the
movies in a 10-DVD set are good. The laws of nature make that
impossible. Indeed, some may suck. But amidst the dreck are
certifiable gems that you may or may not have seen before or
even heard of. Lots of the movies are stuff you’d never
think would be preserved on DVD. Each set is like your own
genre-specific drive-in movie theater. Purists will decry the
wildly varying transfers; they’re missing the point, so
leave them be with their anamorphic widescreen SE of Van Wilder. The
first Brentwood 10-pack we ever saw was 2001’s Legends of Kung Fu.
Then it was Vault of Horror. We’ve been hooked on this DVD B-movie
crack ever since, and we hope they never stop coming.

It’s time to come out of the closet, Brentwood fans. We
